You have to create high quality content first. Make sure that it will help your readers and sort out their problem. Share your posts with Social networking sites. Made constructive blog comments on relevant blogs. Do some Guest posting on high authority blogs. Care about your readers need. These are some of the fundamentals to get success with your blog. Since you didn't specify organic or paid then I'll add some info for the paid traffic side of this.

There are a number of ways to attract paid traffic. A few of those are press release, solo ads, newspaper ads, magazine ads, and advertising space on other marketer's websites.

Another thing you can start doing to get traffic to your site is to start focusing on building your email list. Even if you are a new blogger. This should still be your main priority. I call my email list "free traffic" because in essence that is what it is.

The best thing would be to create a niche blog. Some people fall into the trap of creating a blog that covers too many topics. This will only make visitors confused. They will wonder what the blog is all about. If you're good at creating apps, then focus on apps on your blog. Also the content is very important. I have seen some very bad examples where people either copy an article and post it on their blog or put an article in a text generator that flips the words around. Firstly, duplicated content will be removed on search engines. The website that wrote the article will show up on the search results, not the blog that copied the article. Secondly, the article that was created by the text generator will not be desirable to read.

So the conclusion is to make the content interesting and good. Do a research on the subject you will cover in the blog article, and share something that will educate people and give them the "aha" feeling. You could describe something in a new angle. But you could have the best content but still get few or no visitors at all. Therefore it's important that you market your blog. Use social media platforms. keep in mind these three steps before writing the content and here are some points that will help you to drive the traffic to your blog
1. Quality Content (Quality Content is, that is beneficial or useful for users and help them to get something new)
2. Write in Simple English (Grammarly also be correct )
3. Write at least 900 words long post but don't make users feel annoying)
4. Write in Points or short paragraphs.
5. Use images as well to describe your views more effectively or get the users attraction

Yea, building a list is great especially if your blog is new!

 

I think being honest will be a great think for people to do in order to build blog followers. First, the content has to be interesting for people to read. Then people interested in the subject matter will want to come back if the content is unique and provides some powerful messages. They will want to learn what is next in regards to the subject matter because you have already shown people who read your existing content the intelligence you hold. Also leaving insightful comments on other blogs and articles will have people flock back to your site to find out more about you. If they like you they will follow you as well.

 

Can you expand more on what you meant by free traffic. We only have our subscribers on our e-mail. But not sure how to expand to get a bigger e-mail list.

When you leave posts on others sights, can you use your signature to your site?

 

That normally depends on the owner of the particular site you want to post on.
