I received questions regarding my site traffic, and thought to share this in public, as I believe it helps more (instead me PMing individuals)
No problem. At the moment it's over 1000 uniques per day (doubled since started this thread)

No... I don't try - I'll set a goal and start doing. ;) Call this semantics but I've seen successful people doing this: they keep doing until they succeed - no trying. (Naturally you can "try different tactics" to find out what works best - but trying in this sense is different from "trying to achieve certain goal") I experimented Adsense couple of days ago just to see it was around $1-4 daily, which hardly compensates the trouble it causes: it makes my site look ugly. I signed up for Kontera to see how it goes. You can simply check out my site and read some of the posts there to see how I'm doing. I'm using several different things such as link selling, blog post link selling, reviews, direct sales, affiliates, paid article writing, consulting, selling games, other commissioned work... but no CPM or CPC stuff. Without giving any exact numbers - I'm doing a pretty nice income already. Naturally one must realize that I use my site as an extension to other business - so it's not perhaps so typical way to monetize a site. The site alone relies heavily on selling links and reviews.

I suggest AGAINST removing anything. I'm not a seo guru, but I've heard some people reminding that you should archive and keep everything. From personal point-of-view, I also recommend this way. For example - some of your "internal pages" might get like PR6 (for some specific pages). These pages would be good targets for selling links.

Naturally if you host some kind of scoreboard (like live NHL match scores) then you can update the "final score" as the game progresses, but even then I'd suggest leaving some kind of page in the archive for "matches of June 6". I recommend checking out Joomla or simply Wordpress (I like it very much) and reading some basic stuff on "essentials in setting up a blog".

Hope this sheds some light into your situation.

Yes, it is nice to see some detailed info we can all benefit from. Thanks for taking the time to share the info, I know it will be helpful for me, especially about updating the site daily. I have a community site, and I think that will be key for me, keeping new content out there

Mr. tyro: TLA is text link ads as MTbiker mentioned. Whether they drive away some customers or not will probably depend how many you have, and where you place them. In my experience, they drive away nobody if you sell 10 links in side menu like I do. I wouldn't worry about that - although I would making sure that you don't do other mistake by promoting the TLA affiliate (see what I did).

Bottom line: I wouldn't worry about them driving away customers.

redecrea: No problem, glad you found it useful. I will be making a new free updated guide on "how I went to 33,123 visits" in the future (no promises though "when" this will happen). I would like to remind that be sure to concentrate on what you have passion for. Everybody is good at starting new things and projects, but not many have the persistence to keep going year after year reaching his goals. It's much better to take baby steps daily, than try to take a leap... and then stop.

Thanks. I'm going to implement a couple of these ideas right away - having a News area and doing interviews. I think both will add some nice content depth to my site.
