Sorry if that came over rather curt, if you read around you can see that many do have a pop and we do repeat the same information. You are right it could be in a pool of hundreds, depends on which category you submitted to. But also believe that resubmitting overwrites the date stamp on the site, and any editor clearing out backlogs will see it as a newly submitted site not an old one and leave it alone, so it can make the wait longer. Submitting to wrong categories to try and get it listed merely means the editor will send it to the right one so it will wait again and many re-submissions can get a site categorised as spam and banned.

Believe that we do not have an interest in site owners and if we can add value to their site. Also ask yourself why you are keen to have the listing and you are likely to answer, because of the clout it carries with Google and others who use our downloads. Google put no value on directories that you can buy your way in and many think that we rank highly with them, indeed they use us for their directory, because our focus is on end users. We give our data away free with no strings, so Google using us is nothing to do with us. We think of ourselves as hobbyists who collect and collate sites for other surfers, using our knowledge and experience. But that means we work in our spare time and cannot guarantee that a suggested site is even reviewed in good time. We also clearly say that no site is guaranteed a place.

@Anonymously. Thanks again for the additional information/explanation.

I would hope that my website would be interesting enough [don't think that I'm allowed to put a link here, but it's accessible through my account profile], however the bottom line is that as I don't know what DMOZ volunteers are looking for. For the life of me I can't remember what category I submitted under, but it would have been something like 'visual arts'.

Just in passing; I don't think I got an e-mail confirming my submission. I keep all of my e-mails, and nothing's archived.

Guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed!

    Thanks again for your help.

    All the best - H

We have had some problems with the software recently, but usually we give an acknowledgement as the site is suggested, not an email.

Whatever you read on here, we look for unique content and sites which enrich a category. So that from dozens of sites that all explain the same thing, we might pick a couple of the best. But I would not have thought that would be a problem with your site http://dicksonbrown.com/. Save other people doing the paper chase if they want to see the site.

    Hi Anonymously,

That would explain why I don't have an e-mail on file.

Sorry... I thought that as a new member I wasn't allowed to paste links into my posts. Think that I might be allowed to do that after I've gone through some sort of probation period.

Thanks for all of your help with this.

    H : )

I think you have to have a certain number of posts to add links.
