Im looking to advertise a site with basically no visiotrs or adwords. I was wondering how much money i would need to get a good amount of visitors to the site. Im not needing hundreds of thousands but would like a good amount to get my site started.

You can easily get visitors for $0.05 per. Create a new ad and compaign and load it up with keywords (100s). Use the keyword tools to quickly populate that list. Set the campaign CPC to $0.05. If you're not getting enough clicks, add more keywords. This strategy will only get you dozens to hundreds of visitors, not hundred of thousands.

    40 / .05 = 800

You can set it as low as $0.01, but it's very difficult to get impressions at that price. I've tried and I had to spend an enormous amount of time managing my campaign.

How comes it is harder to get impressions if it is set at $0.01 because do the advertisers get a choice as to what price adverts are on their site?

1 cent will get you next to zero impressions on the content network - that doesn't leave any money for Google to split with the advertiser.
