how much money would you call a decent directory income. Is $1000/mon acceptable as decent income or perhaps more??

    Just curious about your thoughts.

minimum of mid xxxx$ to low xxxxx$/month should be a decent income but yes serious dedication required on this.

A decent directory income will depend on what your expenses are. Any directory that is earning more than it spends is moving in the right direction but it can take months just to get to that point.

The word is profit $1000 is great, but not if you're spending $1200 on promotion, plus whether it's full time or a hobby will make a difference. :)

My revenue in July was around $1.5K. But expenditure too was the same.
It is not easy to feed 4 directories with one weak high PR directory and one regular medium PR directory.:(

So income-= $000 in real terms.

So what is the logic behind it? Well its for the future.

If I have one strong high PR directory, 3 medium PR directories --they could feed themshelves and bring some profit/income for me.:p

It's always good to focus on the near future. A directory should be at least PR4 before generating some income.

$1000/month would not be a nice income if you are continuously promoting your site for traffic and link building..

    Should be around 2k

I do realize that fact. I have sold many links already in my free directories and other directories (PR0 to PR3) as long as you provide some of your hardwork, backlinks, or even future pagerank ;) I don't mean to just focus on PR.

But I also realized that it would be much better to announce a directory once it gets PR5 + for a better impact. You don't need to sell links cheaply either for your "great potential" directory of PR0 once you can show PR, inner PR as that's the best advertising tool for directories (whether we like or not ;)). That's my opinion though of course.

Well as long as theirs a "few daily reviews" then something is better then nothing :)

$1000 isnt bad when you break it down into 4 weeks :D

    thx

Income depends on your expenses, if you are spending twice as much on advertising then it really doesn't matter.

    Take it this way.

If you are making 200% profit every month, thats decent :)

Just a tip not about the revenue figures as that is arbitrary, but about how to make the revenue ongoing,
First you take 1 Directory (unless you are Malcolm who is so hard working and manages to run a directory networK, and a few others who know how to make a bunch of Directories profitable)

Then you promote/invest and promote/invest and promote/invest again that same Directory

Do that for a minimum of 1 Year and you will start seeing the returns for your effort

Its not an easy business but it becomes a whole lot easier if you work the business 365/24/7

There is no luck involved, but the harder you work, the more you will be perceived to have :)
