I forgot in my first post on this thread about the subject of the thread itself---

Well --I have entered into this field in the first week of January -- when I bought a 2 months old PR2 and a nine months old PR3 directory.

Since than I have spent around $xxxx into buying links:mad: At first I thought I would promote only one for PR6 and the other for PR4. Then I realised that there is huge difference on rates between a PR4 link and that of a PR5. Since then I concentrated on going PR5 for both.
Now promotion is really over --and just waiting for the movement on that BAR.

Recently-- I have also opened a new diretory --which I am promoting just little to have atleast some on the green bar. Don't know if G will recognise the links.

In the meantime--I sold some links --don't know exactly how mubh --but it should be around $100 --in total.

Just sent a Payment request to my bro's Paypal --to send me some funds --as I am planning to get the script upgraded and custom Telplate after the PR update:p for a complete makeover--on the looks.

I think with the right exposure you will make 5000+

You might try starting an affliate program if you have a PR5+

    prefferably a PR6

Making money with a free directory is difficult and I actually do not expect to make money for the first three months. One month is over and two left. Maybe in June, I'll make someX $. :)

I earned nothing so far but I just started. My main goal is to get backlinks, but I have adsense running and hoping for the best.

I think that you can earn good money but you must have money to invest in it.

Is the goal to make hoards of money, or give value to those that list? IMO, value should be first, with income as a secondary goal. Build a decent well organized directory, and keep it updated daily, and the income will build exponentially on it's own.

I know I could likely charge a whole lot more with KingBloom, but thus far I have not. My goals have always been to do what other directories have not, provide incoming traffic to those that list. So far we have been relatively successful in that goal.

Making money has always been secondary in that regard. Set your goals on providing value, and the money will come.

I've seen that linksjuice.com has around 214 000 backlinks - how much money do you spend for advertising per month?

I am making a few bucks monthly with my directory - lookaz.net. It's only a PR2 so I don't expect to make much more from it untill I have time to "promote it".

I know some people making a good amount of money from directories not only for selling links but also from affiliate programs and this is my goal too.

Slightly off-topic, actually making a directory would make you earn more money or creating other sites such as forums(ads, premium membership for income), et cetras? Which risk is higher and which requires more capital?

just a couple of weeks down the line.. ive made 9 bucks. 1 was a sponsor & the other was a featured listing, as a free directory , i realistically expect about 50$ a month from sponsor earnings for a few month alteast which will go towards submitting to bigger directories like aviva & alive.
