Hi there! I just want to know, because a friend of mine asked me the same question, but I didn't knew what to answer. he asked me: How much would you pay for a blog like this? : PageRank 5 More than 5,368 total backlinks An average of 20 new backlinks everyday Technorati Rank: in the top 1,000 (from 71 million blogs) UV per month: 15,000 PV per month: 53,000 More than 150 Rss Subscribers. And more than 200 high quality , relevant posts. An average of $400 per month in revenue (different streams) Well those are some facts he gave me, Now, you're the experts, so what you say? How much would you be willing to pay? thanks guys!
What's the blog about? I assume you're looking for some formula based value from the statistics (i.e. 10 times the monthly earnings), but not everyone (at least not me) values sites/blogs strictly on stats and revenue. For example, if the blog is about reality TV shows it wouldn't be worth much to me despite the stats and earnings, if it's about an emerging technology then it could be worth substantially more than the "10 times monthly revenue" I see in sales threads here all the time.
It really relates to its potential and income. $400 x 8 months of revenue = $3200. You can assume that that is a rough estimate. Keep in mind that most people will never pay for what something is worth. They are looking for a bargain.
I'd also want to know: 1. How many Google backlinks are showing up. 2. How many months/years has the $400 average been calculated for. Also, averages aside, is the revenue trending up or down and is it seasonal. 3. You said $400 revenue, but you didn't state profits. How much profit does the site bring in? 4. Where exactly is revenue from? For instance, if it's just link sales, I'd discount the hell out of the site, because that's the easiest revenue to generate and it's not contingent on having a large site or even quality site. 5. And I'd want to know the topic. Is it evergreen or something (like Harry Potter's last movie) that will fade? And if it will fade, when and by how much? When I had that info in hand, I'd start to value the site.
Hi there Guys! Thanks for your replies! Vvery useful information. As I told you this is not my own blog, As he told me, site has: 1,000 Google backlinks well, the revenue it's not an average (I thought it was) that amount is generated each month. $400 - $410 Of net Profits (No hosting fees & no advertising) Source: Adsense and other affiliate programs, a minimum part comes from link sales. He says that with much more optimization the blog could make even more than that, but he has no time to do so. Topic: General business. Trends, lists, tips, strategies etc. also web business. And he claims that the site has the ability to make more than just $400 with optimization and promotion, but he doesn't have enought ime to do that. Now guys with all those facts added, How much would you pay?
If you are in the technorati top 1000, you should make a lot more money and have a lot more RSS subscribers. I'm ranked top 4000 technorati and I have a lot more pageviews, uniques, and much more revenue than that. I'm skeptical that this blog is top 1000, unless it's just really new and undermonetized. Rob
Well, I never pay based on "potential." Why should I pay for something that the owner can't seem to do? If I'm going to be the one that makes the "potential" happen, then it's me who will reap the rewards. So, if it has $400 net profit, that's all it has. I couldn't price this though, because there's no history. If the site has been earning $400 monthly (net) for just a handful of months, there's no way I'd price it out longer term on earnings. And of course, I'd have to look at the site itself to get a figure. I'd also look to see if the content was exclusive and how good it was.
Thank god not all think like that, I'm telling you this because he asked me this question after he received an offer for the blog, and offer from an american blog network of $3,000 and that's real, why? well i really dont know why, I guess because of its potential, no one believed in Google when they were making $0 but now it is a different story..... that's why I was asking you, because he wanted to know if it was a good deal, now I know it is. Thanks guys!
Nope. Not everyone covers all their bases. It's like investing. You have people like Warren Buffet who do their homework and only invest when it's sane to do so. And you have people who just buy stocks without knowing crap about the companies expect that some chart is pointing to an uptick or the stock is at a 52-week low. I'm more than thorough and that's why I don't lose money when I buy sites. There's ALWAYS someone out there willing to part with their money with few or no questions asked. Just need to find them.
An important question is "how long do you spend maintaining/writing on the blog each month". If you're creating good content each day, and spending an age doing it then $400 a month isn't much compensation. You really need to subtract your (hourly rate X hours needed to maintain) from $400, then do whatever Xmonths of revenue calculation.
