Depends how old the directory is, if it was a directory on the same domain from the beginning. Depends what other links would be sold as sitewide too.
Keep in mind that the PR4 would probably be only on the home page. Most, if not all, of the inner pages will typically be PR0.
even if all the internal pages has pr3's and pr2's, even if thousands of them are pr3.. a Sidewide is Still.. well.. a sitewide, means you only get the juice from the highest pr page, (most of the times), 1000 pr3's should make any site pr5 or more if they were from different sites. but it ain't gonna happen with a Sitewide. as for pricing, i personally wouldn't sell a sitewide, nowadays, making a website pr4 is already complicated enough, so i wouldn't risky a penalty for 10 dollars per month.
Is submitting to directories worth it. First of all there are no free directories because they all require a reciprocal link. If we go that direction does the fact it is a reprisal link make it worthless because it needs to be a one way link to out site, A lot of people say to be sure we follow there rules but there are many directors that have no rules, especially niche directories I would not mind paying but it is my understanding that even if you pay you may not get excepted. Considering those facts is there a way to increase chances of making submitting to directories worth out time and or money? I am talking about directories like the ones on this page, http://www.directorycritic.com/niche-directories.html
allwayslearning, as far as i know , with paid directories, your website is accepted 99.9% of the times, there is no point in even calling it a review, lets be honest for a sec, paid directories owners are in the business to make money and they will accept almost any website 99% of the times. also most of them will refund your payment if your website is rejected (this is very rare). i personally can't remember the last time i rejected a site (i think i did it once or twice because it was a porn site).
I don't know where you are getting your information from. Not all free directories require reciprocals! I do not require reciprocals and know many other free directories that don't. Funny, my experience is just the opposite. Niche directories are much more strict on whether or not a site qualifies. As to the original question, doesn't Google frown on sitewides?
I didn't think posting in directories was really that effective anymore. Nowadays the seo pros keep saying "content is king" and that once indexed your site could get tons of targeted visitors from regular searches. As for page rank (PR) I have always been lost on this one because so many people say page rank isn't as important these days as it use to be. I have always heard people bad mouth directories and link farms. But I do hear a lot about Dmoz and Im not listed in it because I couldn't figure out how to do it. lol (too complicated).
we are talking about Paid directories here, some can call them reviews if they want, but i am no hypocrite, the sole purpose of starting a general paid directory is making money, can you tell me which reputable PAID directories are declining most of their PAID submissions ? i submit my SEO clients to botw and yahoo (and those are the most reputable by far (at least by unbiased standards), they never rejected any of my sites, even adsense sites), last time i checked the yahoo directory was even accepting porn sites as long as you pay your "300 dollars" "Review" fee.
It all depends on the relevance of the directory to other webmasters' sites. Focus on relevancy of a sitewide pr4 page link. After that, let me know and I would pay for a spot
1. Paid Directories owned by reputed owners don't accept crap. 2. All reputed directory owners have proper editorial guildlines. 3. Yahoo accepts 'porn/adult' because it has a diff paid module for adult submissions. 4. All those owners who thought of only earning money with directories have dead directories and therefore are dieing to get submissions and therefore accept any crap of the earth. -------- On Topic: Link on homepages can be brought for 'related niche' promotion. PR4 or no PR, its imp to make a related purchase.
Great post, i'll rep you on that one. Another issue with paying for this directory-wide link is that directories don't have as much power anymore
