Hey all I am wondering how much it would cost to pay someone to design a site like investopedia.com? There would be forums on the site as well. Also how can I be sure that the person I pay to design my site doesn't steal my idea? If I think a site will easily make $12,000 a year base on content alone, would it be worth it to pay someone to design the site or would it be better to go into a partnership 50/50 with someone?
It's always nice to have full ownership of the site not sure what it would cost to design that site and put it together, but I'm guessing several thousand
You can always secure the copyrights using NDA. And if your provider indeed runs away with your idea and launches another site using your code, you wait and watch. Once it become popular sue them. If it is too much for you, then just file DMCA. Having said that, I doubt that you will find many takers who will work on 50% sharing basis. Also for you as well it is not benefecial. Now say once site is ready, you will need to do the promotions. Now who will spend the money on promotion? Obviously your design partner isnt going to spend money on site promotion.
A site like that can easily be built by using simple tables and cells built with either Frontpage or Dreamweaver. It's a simple site, so I am guessing no more than $500. He'll build the thing for you, and you simply put in the links that goes to the other pages, along with the info. See if you can find a college student who is studying computer design and programming for an even cheaper price. I had one do the programming in mine. You then contact a message board provider, and they take it from there. As for him possibly stealing the idea. There are, God knows how many sites out there on this subject, so what if he does? The one who puts in the better info, and is a better advertiser will always win out. Besides, the Internet is one huge place, so....
Maybe not more $500 for building a site like investopedia.com. I also have a site gigxon.com. It is new, My friends builded it for 2 months.
