How much would it cost to get 2500 uniques/day to a funny video site with adwords?

That is how many unique visitors I am aiming for. I want to see if adwords is worth it in my case. Can someone give me an estimate or is there a tool I can use? Thank you very much.

Have a look at the Google keyword research tool:

    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

It will give you an idea of how many times your ad will be shown per search term, but of course no guarantees. Then depending on the quality of your ad, your CTR may be 1% to 3% ...

... I don't know too much about video, but is Adwords your best medium for driving traffic to the site?

    Regards

I did the math and I am earning on average 4 cents per visitor to my site per day with adsense alone. Is adwords worth investing in?

Well, personally I'd say Good Luck to getting Adwords keywords cheaper than 4 cents :(

... either they'll be low traffic/low searched or they'll be high cost -- to find the ones that give you high traffic and low cost is something like the search for the holy grail

I wouldn't pay more than a cent per click for humor traffic.

    Are you factoring in...
    - Repeat visitors
    - Viral visitors (who'll tell their friends about your site)
    - Have you thought about ways to ensure their constant return?

There're ways to get visitors to convert multiple times.

All it takes is one power user to get to your site and they'll tell a great deal more people, and these are the ones you want if you're bidding via PPC.

If you're just dividing your daily income / uniques, you're getting a very skewed look of your value/visitor.

Naturally, you're not earning a lot/immediate visitor, so you'll have to find sites that can bring cheap traffic - Adbrite perhaps? ;)

You can do this , if you will pay links to a few visited sites. But this can cost you pretty much.

You have to factor in if your site is the kind that will garner repeat traffic, that getting a visitor the first time is potentially worth more than that one visit.

You really need to know how much a single new visitor is worth to you over an extended period of time to make an educated guess as to whether an adwords campaign will be beneficial. While each visitor may only bring 4 cents, if each brand new visitor comes back 200 times, on average, in a year, then they are worth $80.00 to you for the next year and you can determine how much it would be worth to you to get that $80.00.

Someone above posted they could get traffic to this type of site for $.01/click .... not sure about that.... I've not been able to get any real traffic that low. But I know for sure for that type of site with the right creative you can cap out at $100/day paying $.03-.04/click ... which meets your 2,500 users per day target. If you can get 10% to be returning you would be doing extremely well (IMHO). I think more reasonable is to aim for 3-5% returning unless you have something really, really unique.

Also, if you are getting $.04/unique, that number probably won't stand up with 2,500 users from ppc ... probably a large percentage of those clickers are just curious because the ppc advertising for a humor/entertainment site is probably going to be very stimulating by design ... so they will be curious to click to see what's there but they won't click around or stay or exit via an ad click on your site at the same rate a repeat visitor would.

Until you test, you won't know ... but this has been my experience with lots of entertainment related ppc campaigns.
