I have a site and would like it to be ranked top page for the relatively uncompetitive keyword "Rakion" How much do you think it would cost to pay someone to optimize my site to get up there?
Google. My site is PlanetRakion.com The competition doesnt seem too rough, but I'm in no way experienced with SEO and am curious as to what kind of cost would be related in getting it up there on the top page.
Hi, You might not need to pay anyone. Right at the moment you have a nicely laid out site, good graphics. What you likely need are: 1) back links - they don't have to be super relevant but it would help if you could get links from some of the better non-specialized gaming sites. 2) a bit of on page optimization - things like putting three key words in alt tags on each of your graphics (not including clear spacer gifs), using H tags rather than "big" on your headlines. 3) You seem to update regularily. You might want to look at incorporating a blog as your center text. This would give you a) pings to assorted ping engines, RSS feeds to which you could subscribe yourself, automatically generated Google site maps and a growing set of "archived pages". 4) Run around to a few of the better gaming forums and post with your site in the sig just like at DP. Nothing extreme and you should be able to rank well - I mean you only have 290,000 sites to beat...
Thanks for the advice and help guys! I'll work on getting some back links but I have a few questions. Does adding RSS feeds help SEO or is it just another method for getting content out? What are assorted ping engines? How do you check your ranking for a particular keyword? Thanks again and sorry for the many questions. If this works out well, lingeriediva, could I send you a small donation?
Hi citizen, RSS is a strange beast. With RSS you can sign yourself up at My Yahoo and Google Feeds (and a number of other feed readers). This ensures that your site is crawled by the feed bots. It will also - we think - ensure that you will be indexed in the Google Blog Search. But that is not for sure. With respect to pings: registering with Technorati and Pingomatic will mean that each time you update the blogosphere is notified. That, in turn, means that various spiders will crawl your site. As well, real live people interested in the game your site is about will come and may even link. Again, it is not a straight line do "x" and "y" will follow. More like, if you don't do "x" you have no chance at "y". If you do go the bloggy route make sure to include technorati tags. These will help people find your site. (There is some evidence that SEs are looking at the technorati tags...but it is not conclusive.) You can check keywords at McDar.com. I agree, by the way, with sachin410 that simply getting a few decent - say PR 4 and 5 backlinks will have a significant effect. So will posting with a sig. At a guess, just doing those two things could put you on the top three pages. Add a blog to that and you will hit page one either next update or the update after. I note that the #1 ranked site does not even have meta tags which, while they are not all that significant for Google rank, suggests they are not optimizing at all. I love the idea of donations, big, medium or small and PM me for my PayPal. Good luck!

I'd get it on Google's first page for $500, Upper 5 results for $2,000 - you're almost there already. Shouldn't be a problem. give me a buzz if you are interested.
You should be banned. Look at the date this thread was posted. You are about 6 years late to reply to this thread.
I really dont understand what is the use of pulling out a 6 years old thread out of no-where and replying to it with your promotions ?? This is the third thread in a row which I found, where a noob is answering without any reasons
that is hysterical. I didn't even read the date. LOL. Sorry guys - I'll reset my settings to only show threads replied in the past month. LOL. It truly was an accident. LOL. The bad news is that after 6 years, he still isn't on Google's first page......
