How do you mean to prefer a .net instead of .com, is that not a mistake? please explain. .com domain is used as default on 90% of website, buyers prefers to get the .com before .net. What do you see before saying that? Cheers.
Please this question requires more explanation because you did not mention any domain but only the extension you have mentioned. Cheers.
If it is a new registration it usually cost $10 but if it is after market it now depends on the value of the domain raging from above $10 to 7figures. Cheers.
there are so many factors to be consider before valuate a domain age,its name value of the word etc some are priceless
which extention is the one you just registerd, is it a .com? If it is not; there is no big deal in that. Cheers.
It depend on so many factors including; 1)The Page rank of the domain 2)Age of the domain name 3)Whether it is indexed in Google 4)How many visitors per day 5)Relationship of the business to my business And other lot of info will be considered. Depending on those the price will be from $10 to $30000. And forgot to mention, we looked which directory it belonged to. Trusted ICANN registered directories like Godaddy and Namecheap has more value than others.
I don't think Registrar is include when talking of domain qualities, becase you can transfer your domains to any registrar of your chojce at anytime. Cheers.
On one hand you are right, on the other hand we need to see it with a deep focus. I share one of my friends real experience with you. One of my friend made a blog few years back with a domain name buying from a XYZ domain registrar. He worked hard and hard to bring traffic to it. Finally he was manage to get 2000+ pageviews a day without any difficulty. He retired from his job for blogging. Because he earned a lot from blogging. But suddenly the domain registrar has went down completely (I don't know whether the company has stolen the domain or the company closed their service, since I was not engaged in blogging those days). Unfortunately it was not a very reputable company. He was shocked. He mailed to the company more than 100 times. But he failed to get it back. He lost his all the incomes. Since he have no options he tried for local job. Ultimately he got a local job and not he is a part time blogger where his domain located on avery reputable company, Namecheap.com This is a real story. Now you decide whether the domain register is important or not. It's up to you.
When I set up my initial site, maybe 10 years ago (shudder) I bought email.biz - the solutions means absolutely nothing, nothing for me, but when I look today its valuable for me... So, at that time I set a price in my head, and haggled with the domain owner for nearly a year and eventually, he came around to my way of thinking. It was a good deal more than £200 but was very valuable to me and to my brand...
depends, domain names do have intrinsic value, but it is a very illiquid marketplace. valuing domains is an art, while the art has come a long way, the marketplace is still very inefficient. I follow some of the largest domainers in the world, and the sell names I wouldn't register for $10 for $1000's - so its all about finding a buyer and creating demand. That said, the fact that the marketplace is very inefficient means there are tremendous opportunities for those who can best value domain names, and who have the negotiating skills to wrestle them away from their currently owners
Your questions couldn't have been more vague. If it's a fresh domain and it suits my desired name i'd pay somewhere between $50-$100. If it's a well known domain that i just have to maintain so it keeps bringing up profit. Well, that's a different story.
It depends on the quality of that domain. Generally I look for three things; number of words (the smaller the better), keywords (if you have direct keywords which are well searched for on Google e.g. 'online, 'poker, 'free' etc then it's worth more) and whether I think I can sell it for double what I've paid in 12 months or less. So there's no real answer.
