If they can write custom scripts in PHP alone then £30,000 (circa $60,000) in the UK, if they know commercial languages such as VB, Java (not javascript), C# or C++ then £40,000. Add project management or system architecture for server farms etc and it could easily be £50,000+

The above is based on full time salaries, I have known contractors to get over £1,000 per day, as a consultant project manager my former employers used to charge £1,750 per day for my time and whilst I was a full time employee so got nothing like that some on the same sort of money were self employed

As to India, I cannot say, it depends a lot where they are based as certain areas (eg around deli) are suffering from massive salary inflation. A previous employer used to pay uk developers £40k and indian £8k and "charged" an average of £300 per man day of effort. Within 2 years the indian team grew massively but the UK one shrank slightly yet to maintain the same profit margin they had to increase the day rate to £430 - dont have enough data to do the math on what their new salary was but it is proof that there is big increases in salaries. I know speaking to my opposite number who was an experienced PM said that when he joined he was well off on his salary but now the same salary is fairly poor and graduates with little experience were coming in on more money than he had with all his experience

Do you think he will get a job with this profile for 30,000 pounds in UK. I mean do you know anyone who need such a person?

If he lived in the UK and could prove his credentials than yes but you have to remember cost of living and taxation in the UK etc.... someone answering the phone in a call centre these days can get close to £20k without too much effort and still be considered close to the bottom rung (average price of a 1 bed home in the south east is over £200,000)

Well I hope his resume looks better then that. Explicitly laying out his job functions and roles over those last 14 years.

Employers are typically looking for leaders and not follows.

I for one am a forward thinker with automation tasks running each and every day to save transaction/labor costs.

Companies are extremely interested in these minds. Coding circles around people will always be a plus but you need to be able to apply yourself in everyday situations and compile work into a neat format and deliver quality product while always looking ahead into the future and laying your coding structure out as such.
