Fly.com is currently on auction in sedo with a reserve of about $2Million and auction ends in 3 days.
it was sold back in 1999 for $1.5M, so i guess it will fetch more than $5M this time, what are your guesses

to make the things interesting I started a blog post on this topic and the one who guess the closest price of this auction gets a $10 goDaddy gift card

Domain values seem to have dropped of late but thats a great domain. I think 3 million is about right. 5-6 million seems difficult in these hard times but anything is possible.

I'm not too optimistic with this one but who knows - someone with a plan for a great travel business could buy it or even a large airline company? The climate is just not really ideal for selling top domain names right now.

forget about fly dot com how about planet dot com or sc dot com. Those are going to be extremely pricey. I dont think they will break fund dot com's price of a whopping 10 mil

If we look at this deal retrospectively, it is not exciting.

The domain name was acquired back in 1999:

    fly.com December 1999 1,500,000.00 USD Private sale

and then sold ten years later:

    fly.com February2009 1,760,000.00 USD Private sale

From the investor prospective, it was very high risk and very low returns. IRR is practically close to zero.
