Just wondering if the search engines give you a little love one of your kewords is your url. For example I sell fortune cookies over the web, if I say have www.fortunecookies.com as my url do I get more pagerank love then say www.tankinz.com?

    Any advice would be great!

You won't get higher pagerank as that is only determined by the PR of your backlinks. You would likely get search engine rankings slightly easier though. This is because all of your links would include your keywords, even if they force you to use your url or website name.

True. Having your url be a keyword seems to work better in Yahoo. I have customfortunecookies.net and it ranks number two while I can't even get a sniff on google. I have to use my real url www.tankinz.com and even there I am on page two.

    Anyone have the same experience?

You'll get a great page rank. Also be sure to write an article or two with lots of keywords regarding fortune cookies.

From what ive seen its easier to rank for those keywords if their in the domain.

An example, i rank higher as an affiliate for a company that i promote for some keyword phrases because their in my domain, my site is only a few months old, theirs is years old, i only just got pr1 on it, they have more but ive jumped up ahead of them.

Whats helping too though is a handful of related backlinks.

If you can you should always try and have some of your keywords in your URL. It may not give you a huge boost but it can give you a slight advantage over your competitors.

Having the keywords in your domain will always give you an edge vs not having it in your domain (as far as rankings go). Always. I hate using the word always, but its true.

Yes the big authority sites like amazon etc don't have keywords in their title, but if your targeting smaller niches, it would be absolutely in your best interest to get the keywords in there.

I've tested this a lot and its always the same result. Say your niche is 'how to wash your dog'. Make your domain name howtowashyourdog.com. Update it a couple times, add backlinks every now and then, and you'll watch it soar to the first page of google and get emails from people thinking you're using some super secret blackhat method to rank your site. I've done it a million and a half times.

Have the keywords in domain just makes it easier for others to use it for your anchor text : ))
