Ok, not sure about this but have always assumed that the se's are able to track direct hits to a website by people that type the url directly in the address bar to go to a site assuming the person has the toolbar.

Does anyone know if this is really the case? If so how much weight if any does it have on overall rankings?

I ask because my site has a high return rate from people either clicking on us from their favorites or directly typing in the address in the address bar. Some people come back on a daily basis and some basically live on the site.

The problem is our serps have been all over the place for the last few months on both google and yahoo however it seems like we've pretty well stagnated in google in complete obscurity so just curious on this aspect of the algo.
