How much traffic you will need to earn good money from your site will depend on many things. Like: CTR of your site, Niche etc. A site may earn $1 from 1000 visitors where another site may earn $2 from the same traffic. The more targeted traffic you get, the more money will your site make.

Adsense earnings depends on the traffic and keyword price. The higher the traffic of your site the higher possibility of clicks to adsense and the higher the keyword prices the higher possibility of high earnings.
