that was searched for 1.4 million times in January on Yahoo ? I woke up and saw I was #9 on some DC's for this term and was wondering if I get to #9 on ALL DC's how much traffic I could expect if it was searched for 1.4 million times on Yahoo in Jan. I would think the term would of been searched for at least 2 million times on G in a month right ? And about how many people scroll down to the 9th position ?
It depends on the quality of the sites above you. If they are selling and you are information and people are searching for information (rather than trying to buy) then they'll be motivated to work down the list to your #9. On the other hand if all those people are trying to buy and the first 8 are shops and you're supplying information then you may never catch their interest. You can turn that around any which way. Only you know your market, those 8 competitors etc. If you've done your business plan, market research etc then those answers should be pretty clear.
The Overture keyword tool is incredibly over-inflated for most keywords. How many individual words are there in the phrase, how many ways can they each be stemmed, and how many ways can those factors be combined? What do you rank for each of the combinations? -Michael
The KW is adult so it is 1 word - I am back to 14 today I rank well for combos of adult like free adult - adult pics etc etc
Ok, I know from experience that is a very high traffic keyword, but I am guessing you will get a ton more of the traffic that you actually want from your 2+ word combos. -Michael
Do you have numbers to back that up? On an affiliate site of mine i saw traffic drop when my site bumped from 11 to 10. 1st rank 2nd page is often better than last rank first page.
I agree, I remeber struggling with search engines when I was a newbie, trying to get traffic, until I find out theat as a new site, and not having any links form well ranked sites, it's absolutely mandatory to work with 3+ keywords .
The type of word makes no odds, it still matters how well the sites above you meet the expectations of the person searching. If they will do the job (so to speak) then the person has no reason to come down to #9. If they're rubbish, then #9 will be very valuable.
She didn't mean it was an adult oriented keyword. She actually ranks for the word [adult], I know which site she is talking about. Most of the sites above her are not in the same field she is. -Michael
aaaaah I guess then it all depends on whether all those people searching are looking for her "field" or someone elses!
Thanks Mvandermar you are right the word is ADULT - no capitals - but alas Google just teased me for a couple of days and moved me back to page 3 today
Check your logs. Check your analytics stats. That's the only thing that could give you precise answers to your questions.
Depends how popular is the keyword is. lets say it is not very popular, like you can except to get about 20 to 25 hit from google per day. if keyword is very popular, then you might get 100 to 150 hit from Google. all depends on keywords, thats what is my experince says.....
worng . best is ofcourse no.1!! anyway for the one that were ranked lower than 5th i think the rate will be about 5-10%
