According to your experience and your thoughts, how much traffic (how many daily visitors) will you be happy with?

Except your satisfaction, how many daily visitors do you think you need to be seen as popular?

If I could pull in 1000 visitors a day, every day, to each of my sites I'd be happy. I still wouldn't be able to retire!

Yeah, I don't think this is the kind of job where you are ever finished :) When you reach 1000 uniques a day, you need to work to keep it there - and then you work at getting it higher :)

I agree . Actually when you start you target some decent number then when you reach that number, you target another one higher, then another... till you can not reach what you target...

Enough is enough when your server breaks down.

And you cannot get a better server in the money that the site is generating with its revenue.

    Has happened to me :D

Sometimes I will, sometimes I wont. It's difficult and I know each month if I fail I will need to push myself to dedicate more time and effort and maybe invest a bit more. I think having more back links , e.g text-links , signature links is important. If you need assistance with text-links etc just PM me :)

Haha, that one was really good :)
Yeah, technically speaking, enough is when your site slows down to unaccessible. From the business perspective, the more the better. Unless your high traffic is hit by bots, spiders and attackers.

If my site would get about 1000 unique visitor per day then I would be really happy :) At the moment my site gets 400-500 uniques per day. That's quite well too, I think...

Just one question Have some of you been through when your site is been hit with 20 uniques per minute.

Imagine what happens. Imagine the number of queries it will use.

    The bandwidth and all.

At first I was worried about traffic. Now I am worried about handling that traffic. :(

It is like I was worried about earning. Now I am worried about taxes. :D

So I would say traffic is not important but the important thing is revenue.

Elimanate your obstacles before using your business plan. Don't know how to handle traffic? Invest into making something better. Scared of running out of space? Upgrade to something which wont be exeeded unless your site is amazingly improving.

Move your website to a virtual dedicated server when traffic too high for a shared hosting account.
Then move it to a low budget dedicated server.
And then when traffic is really huge (if you're lucky enough) get yourself a powerful dedicated server, and you should be fine.

Yeh , and don't say "You cannot afford a dedicated server" If you have a huge site which will make you get to a dedicated i'm sure you'll make revenue with adsense or some sort of revenue making program.

You can never get enough, if you can get a profit then you don't deserve the traffic. :p

Oh yeah, there are times of the day when the US flood my site, sending 20-40 uniques per minute.

At first it killed the server, now I have it on a 2x dual core with 6GB RAM, so it handles it nicely, expensive though. =/

    *cough* get creative *cough* :)

I'd be happy with 50,000-60,000 visitors a day.
