Hi, I'm thinking about buying a domain name that has an Alexa ranking of 650,000. I know Alexa stats are not that accurate, but if you had to guess at how many unique visitors that is per day, what would you guess? Anyone have a site ranked close to that number? How many visitors do you receive on the similar site? Regards, Wyatt
I have an Alexa of 545,433. The site receives about 1,700 unique visitors each day. But as you have stated, the Alexa rankings are not considered very reliable.
Well I don't know if we want to turn this into a compare Alexa ranking thread... but, I have another site that averages 6,000 unique visitors per day and it has a ranking of 104,700. Regards, Wyatt
Alexa rank does not mean anything really, its very in accurate and my alexa rank is way higher than jim4767 ( not boasting, there is a point) and i do not receive anything near that amount. Will.
Do Alexa take the rank from people who have the alexa toolbar who then visit your site? Iam assuming thats one part of how they calculate the rank, all i know is its very inaccurate and they are "trying" to sort it out and make it better, however due to this change my site went from 480k to 380k and obviously does not receive any more traffic. Will.
My site is Alexa rank 600k and i receive at least 3000 unique visitors everyday. Some days much more. So the ranking is very inaccurate!
Anything under 100,000 is inaccurate/ not reliable measure of traffic. I have a site that is 2,005,000 on Alexa but gets about 900 - 1,000 per day. I have another site that is 1,134,000 and get 100/day. So as you can see its totally inaccurate..
I don't know what you guys saying. Jim is saying he gets 1700 unique visitors but the rank is 545,433, Wyatt_Lehmenkuler gets 6000 unique visitors and the rank is only 104,700! Very strange and dollar is saying he get 900-1000 visitors and rank is 2,005,000 and Chrilz gets 3000 unique visitors every day and rank only 600K. If you guys really getting this amount of traffic, your Alexa rank is not correct. I am getting hardly 150 visitors every day and my rank is 678796. If you of all are getting thousands of unique visitors, you should be in bellow 50,000 in Alexa. Last Monday, I got 241 visitors (here i am not saying unique visitor. My unique visitors was 159 on Monday) and my ranking was 71,853 on that day. Now guys you figure it. If I got this rank with 241 visitors why you are not at bellow 50,000. Let me show how many visitors we got in every 1 million global users on last day and what were the rank. My site borolook.com = visitors 6 and rank was 109,332 Jim jimfeeney.org = visitors 2 and rank was 602,536 willyboy back-links.org has no one day rank but 7 day is visitors 2.1 and rank 581,616 Chrilz dild.net = visitors 7 and rank was 140,924 w3bmaster daredesigns.info = visitors 0.3 rank was 1,853,907 Now guys what should be your rank if you of all are getting 20 times more visitors than me? If Wyatt_Lehmenkuler is getting really 6000 unique visitors, he should in the 1000 Alexa rank. Am I right?
I can't really say how much traffic it would get because I've seen sites where the daily hits are totally unrelated to the Alexa ranking. I'll have to do more research on this, because I myself am interested in finding out what exactly Alexa ranks mean.
No a 10,000 Alexa site can get like 300,000 uniques or 50,000 uniques a day.Alexa is just good for a rough estimate
May this is true what you are saying. But you can't ignore it that your site rank should be better than me as your traffic.
Well see for Alexa to work (in a perfect world that is, which is not the case) They have to have the Alexa Toolbar installed. So it depends also alot on the type of visitors you have. For example the site I have getting 1,000 people a day is from a proxy site. 99% of my visitors are from schools/workplaces and they deffinatly are not participating in the Alexa toolbar. So figuratively I could be getting 10,000 people a day,or more a day, It won't matter if there all comming from the schools my Alexa won't move! It will still say 2,005,000 Now the sad thing is some people take this whole Alexa thing too serious. Specially advertisers. I could be getting 10,000 a day by my example above. And apply for a premium ad-network and they will reject my application based on the alexa being 2 million. >.> Further more another person showed me his site which was 12,000,000 (12 million) on Alexa and it was getting some 1K uniques a day according the screenshot of his analytics's data. His site was also a proxy site. So if you have that kind traffic from school and workplaces your alexa will not move.
