My signature links are so mind-dazzlingly amazing that as soon as I post a message and people click them they can't help to rush off to their bookmarking sites and tell EVERYBODY all about how amazing they are, how much they have changed their lives! This post alone will probably cripple my server in a couple hours!

Sounds like you're encouraging those General Discussion topics.. with no head or feet? something as silly as "which part of your body gets wet first when you take a shower?"

My honest suggestion for DP would be of NOT letting the posts in the General Categories count in the total post count.

This will surely decrease the number of silly topics we see in the General categories of DP forum..

All of you must have heard the common sayin with words 'quantity' and 'quality' in it.

    Thanks for reading.

It all depends on the sig. If a member has a sig with "How to wash your dog" in it - I wouldn't click it even if the member has 1million posts!

Now how many of you clicked that link???!:D

I would say it all depends on who sees your signature... and what specific forum that signature was viewed in. Even though this is my first post in a very long time on Digital Point, I still tend to get traffic from time to time based on the number of posts I have. When I was actively posting on the forum I would get probably a dozen or so visits from the forum. Of course that number maybe less important than say the return traffic you get from visitors who actually liked your site and started to type in the URL directly in their browser of just added it to their favorites.

You also have to take into consideration how old each of your posts are and how active that thread stays. If it is a dead thread then you might as well remove that from your post count. I believe you would have good results by just posting 1 or 2 good posts per day. I think some people have the mentality that big numbers mean big traffic. It really boils down to quality. If you have 100 recent posts that were high quality, it is almost guaranteed that you will get more traffic than someone who has 1000 recent posts of low quality.

The content you post on the forum is the first thing the reader sees. If it is high quality they will almost always look to see what is in your signature. Then if that is relevant to the topic being discussed or relevant to what that reader is interested in, then they will click through to your site.

But that is just my 2 cents worth. Don't spend it all in one place. :D

I would say if you ever buy signature links from active members, go for a catchy title, and not for a SEO optimized keyword because first off the signature is limited, and the only purpose of it is to attract more visitors and generate traffic.

Having a link to your blog with an exclusive title is better than a link with a title that is only for SEO purposes.

In reality I'm lucky to get 20 posts per week, rather than per day. However, my signature links are always very focused on what I'm currently working on or marketing. Don't expect sold links or flashy crap to sell to people who aren't buying.

I think you could have many clicks in many signatures you have. If the site is really good and has a higher visitors per day.
