How Much to Sell Ads for on a Small Blog?

I am currently getting some requests for ad sales, and I'm new to internet marketing, so I'm not sure exactly how much to sell banner ads for. I'm selling on a per month basis, and I get about 9,000 uniques per month.

I'm wondering how much I should sell for a standard 468x60 banner at the top of the page and a 125x125 sidebar ad.

If your getting requests, then I think your blog holds some good value. Try asking them how much they are willing to pay, and then seeing how much they are willing to put in, you can set you prices accordingly.

If that doesn't work out, try advertising it for sale for like $50 a month, leave it for a week and see if theres any interest. If not then move it down until you start getting some advertisers - thats the point you stay on and then slowly increase over time. Hope that helps ya :)

    Do you have adwords?

Try to see how much is the minimum bid for your advertisers keyword on adword to see their cost per click...

Then work out how many people you think will click on their ad from your site an multiply that number with the minimum cost per click they would have on google.

Once you've worked out a price, offer him the deal. That will be your base price for the future...

If somebody else comes along you know where to start the bidding from. You may want to put a banner rotating system to allow for different ads to be displayed at different prices.

Usually, try to get a good deal for yourself and for them... this way you'll get repeat business.
