I posted this in a different part of DP earlier but it was probably in the wrong spot. Whoops! Maybe fellow bloggers will be better helping me with this one.

    Hi guys,
I've had a request for a couple of banners on my site. I've never sold a banner before so would be clueless as to know what to charge. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

The site is http://www.joysandsorrows.co.uk and the banners would be sitewide. The site is PR 6 with some PR 3/4 on internal pages. It attracts roughly 1k uniques daily.

I generally charge $15 per month per text link in the upper right hand corner with people who buy five months getting a sixth for free.

With that in mind, what should I charge for a "140 by 140px HTML-Banner which consists of our logo, some text links and text." From the examples I've seen, it will probably have around 4-5 text links on it. The banner will be going where the Google Ads currently are in the middle column of http://www.joysandsorrows.co.uk

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

well, if you are replacing Google ads with this banner, what you need to know is how much is that particular ad position bringing in. Set up a channel in adsense and run it for a time and try and determine how much you are already making from the position.

Then, once you know how much you are earning, setting the price is quite easy as you will understand what the spot is worth.

A quick guess, is that the spot might be worth around $30-45/mth.
