So I currently came across the chance to design a web site for burger king. Its not the main companies website but a franchisers burger king site. They simply wanted me to develop a site where people could reserve parties at burger king. You can see the site at www.designerbagger.com - My quesetion is how much to charge. They are trying to say $200 but that is out of the question. What do yo uthink?

I'd say at least $400, considering you completed all of the work.

No offence though, I don't think BK would get a site like that freelanced (even though it's from a franchise) because it's not appealing enough. Also, one of the compulsary requirements in a franchise agreement, is that a franchise store cannot create public services on behalf of BK without permission.

I know it's not from BK HQ, because you wouldn't be developing it if they did. So, tell that store that's somethings up. My two cents anyway.

I'd say 600-700$ if you let some freelance designer fix it a bit (background images etc.) to make it look more appealing. I know you've done much work for that but it's the outside that counts for most of customers.

Erm, let me get this straight, you did the job but didn't agree on a price before starting work? Well, there's your first big mistake. ALWAYS make sure you know exactly what you're getting paid, and ask for at least 50% of this figure before you even start work.

Well asking 40% at done deal it will be good for new clients. Than the rest when the job was done. I think you have to be more professional in some cases, it may seem a 600$ worth...

    Thor,

I would agree with Kiteguy. But now in the position you are I would ask at least $500. They say they love the site didn't they? You provided a good product and you deserve an honest reward for it.
