I have received a few solicitations from companies wanting to advertise on my web site. Until now I have only had Google ads. I need to know what would be customary for a banner ad, above the fold, for a web site that averages 300-400 uniques a day but the traffic has been growing steady for the past month. Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, MaestroC
Your music website audience is worth a lot of value to the right advertiser. However, the ad market is not efficient enough for smaller publishers to pick up deals which is why Google Adsense continue to dominate the playing field in signing up a lot of smaller publishers to create a large content network of site to leverage for signing up advertisers.
I think you have the right to choose your price because your site gets targetted traffic, from a specific audience. The audience that your company want to get into too. so you could play with the price until they can compromise with you.
You can create your own prices, and better yet, create your own PPC prices for banners, text ads, or photext ads ( see my sig ) - PPC would be the best if you are unsure about what price, instead of someone paying for a month and either getting thousands of clicks for only $10 from your site, or none and theyll be unsatisfied, use PPC so you earn a set amount from advertisers. http://www.BoostedAds.com has the highest payouts in the industry ( higher then adengage and adbrite ) by 10% ! Enjoy
I'd say use AdSense on your website first, check to see how's your eCPM and bill accordingly. Test to see where you have the best results on your page, on what positions (for the banners I mean). I strongly believe that AdSense can really give you some numbers to guide yourself when selling advertising on your website.
Keep increasing the rate every month. You could start with $10 and increase it as traffic to your site increases
It depends on the placement too. How many clicks do you think you can give out? If the banner gets 3 clicks a day, that's 90 per month on average. Figure 10 cents a click and you've got $9. I would advise against raising it monthly to a particular advertiser unless you want to lose them. That's just ghetto business. If you want, conduct quarterly reviews and go from there. Think about it. If your phone company raised your rate every month, would you stick with them (if you had a choice)? No.
