If you are looking for advertising rates, this is what I would do.

Put Adsense ads up for the first month, finding out which colors and sizes were best.

Say you make $1000 the first month, the next month, I would break it all down so you at least made $1500 off of advertisers...if you can't, just keep the adsense ads, they are steady and you don't have to deal with buyers.

I am also looking for an answer to the original "how much should I charge?" question . . . but I have a twist.

I have been running a site since 1998 that consistently attracts between 300,000 and 500,000 unique visits per month.

Before I get into "how much", my question is "Should I even be considering advertising?" Is this amount of traffic likely to interest an advertiser? It's sending me broke maintaining the site so I would sure love it to be income-generating.

BTW - the site is www.nostalgiacentral.com if you want to look before answering.

    Cheers & thanks in advance

    Dave,

What are you waiting for? I have a site that has about 17,000 unique vpm and between advertisers and Adsense I am quite comfortable. I don't want to go into details here but what matters is not how many visitors but whether there are companies out there that want to market to them.

Your site looks great by the way. A lot of work gone in there. You don't have Adsense yet. Why not? I actually thought the pics and links to pages along the top were AS ads at first glance. Adsense could be enough to take the pressure off for you and then you could start to think about attracting paying, regular advertisers (so much per month plus reasonable discount for 12 month booking, money up front).

Go for it, sunshine. IMO, you've got a great little earner on your hands there, if you just give it the chance.

I agree with e10. With the PR6 and all those visitors you should make a decent income from adsense and advertisters :)

Look at your major competitors how much they are charging. You can think then to offer similar prices.
