I want to ask the people on DP,
how much time should you spend on building and promoting a site that will most likely only make around $100 dollars a month but will require little or no maintenance at all when completed?

I promoted my blogs in stumbleupon, which takes me 1 hour a day. I earned $200 last month.

If I like the project, I spend more time on it. If I don't like the project, I spend less time on it.

I'm looking for more input for this. When does it become too time consuming to build a site that only makes 100 dollars a month? Like if it takes you 4 months to build a website that only pulls in 100 dollars a month, then the time it took to build it was not worth it.

    $100 a month is $1200 a year.

The way I see it is I would need to build 30 of these sites to make an decent income
I wouldn't spend more than a week on it if it is self perpetuating after set up as you said

    Depends on
    1) Do you like it
    2) What do you earn by doing other work

Well it depends on how much you can make working at a job instead of online...

I have just made $400 in the past 3 or so weeks. I joined the IPC program, which sets up a replicated site for you as a start. It has worked so far, however its time to upgrade soon. Considering my doubts, it turned out very well.

For $100,i will only spent around 10 minutes/day doing build & promote my site.
Its not worth for my time coz $100/month is too low even to cover my dedicated server fee which total up tp $700+/month not counting the server management fee

if you want make cash on a few time you have to work hard and promote your website, i guess 3hours/days.
Or, if you want to keep time , you can invest on Adword or other Advertising system.
the problem is how too get visitors, you must set an interesting contents to keep users, install a forum, and do competation.

Well the correct answer is "as much as you can". It is recommended to work on the website on a daily basis in the beginning and then make it weekly bi-weekly etc. When you start earning ex $100 a month go back to the website and invest more time and money.

Why do you think there is only a $100 to be made from your site ????

@mentos you must be running some big sites for that amount a month '$700+/month'

as long as it takes! if it takes you 8 hours a day to make $8 a month keep at it because your learning all the time if you can make a $1 you can make $100 and if you can make $100 why not $100,000 work work work and work some more until your sites start working for you test and ajust!

it would depend on the potential of the website, if it is just a mini site with 5 or 6 pages, i don't spend near as much time as i would a site with hundreds of pages with a broader subject
