I think money is already there in your bank account now as it takes no more then 2-3 days (business working days).

Amount is in INR, branch is State Bank of India Patiala Branch. Checked dropped in drop box on last Saturday. The amount is still not in bank. There is no Citi Bank branch in Patiala. Can it be the reason for the delay?

    Hi,

following is the address of Citibank in Punjab- Citibank N.A., 1st floor, SCO 8, Feroze Gandhi Market, Ludhiana, Punjab. If you got the check in INR, it won't take more than three days to get cleared. If your check is in USD, it will take at least 20 days to get cleared off... The check should be sent to US to get cleared... Hope this will solve your problem.

Your Bank is right,It will take around 15-20 Days as There is No CITI bank in your City. Most probably it will send to Chandigarh/Ludhiana CITI Bank for clearance. You will get the money but take 2-3 weeks.

Its better to Deposit these checks at your bank branch in Cities where CITI bank is there. You can ask a friend to do this OR even Post it by speedpost to Manager,SBI of respective City.

Well still it should not take 20 days even if they have to send it to other city for clearance. Chase up with them and eat their head till they encashed it for you. They nationalized bank staff don't like to work hard and they just want salary for sitting in the office.

    Thanks

As Patiala is near Chandigarh and as you have deposited your check in Patiala. So it will be treated as outstation check. In most cases it will be done within 5-7 working days. In my case it only takes 2 days including the day in dropbox at SBI. If You want to do this on regular basis better open a/c in Ludhiana or Chandigarh. Best of Luck!!
