How much Time does it take for Earnings to Show Up

Hi, I recently started using CJ and I was promoting a Web Hosting Campaign. I gave my affiliate link to a Friend via Yahoo Messenger and Asked him to sign up for the Hosting. He did, but the Balance isn't showing up even after 6 days of Conversion. Is this normal or is something wrong.

Have you ever accessed CJ from his computer? Or was it really you who signed up? They track IP addresses so if the program was tested on your computer it might not get counted.

Also it was said somewhere here before that if your commission is paying $100, and he signed up for their cheapest ($90) plan, then you won't get paid. It would probably say something about that in the terms for the affiliate program.

I deal in leads though and they show up 1 - 2 hours after they occur. It might work differently with sales, so I'm not sure.

Of course you won't get pay for that, since you gave your affiliate link to your friend via yahoo messenger, this is not valid! you have to put link on a website which is add to CJ.

Its says in CJ's terms that you are allowed to market through email.

If this were true, then you wouldn't be able to do that. I believe the cookie is created when you go to the address (with the refer ID), and not when it is actually clicked.

I'm thinking that CJ may or may not be under reporting. This is just based on a couple of comments similar to this that I have seen on this forum, as well as a question in their FAQ. I would just link to it, but digital point won't let me do that yet so I'll just copy the text below.

    The question was:
I know someone bought something at my web site but CJ didn’t track the commission.

    And this is CJ's answer:
This is a very common question that comes into Commission Junction all the time. New publishers start an account and either do their own test sale or have a friend make a purchase for them—and for some reason it doesn’t track.

The most likely reason a transaction will not show up is because a user has their browser security settings so high that it prevents a tracking “cookie” from being placed on the user’s computer. This cookie remembers that the user clicked on one of your publisher links and went to an advertiser’s site. Then, when the user completes a transaction at an advertiser web site, this cookie helps trigger that information being sent back to Commission Junction to show up in your account as a commission.

Note: Cookies from CJ links never capture or store any user’s personal information.

As we all know, computers don’t always behave correctly and users are allowed to customize their security settings. Users who have their settings set for maximum security may filter out the Commission Junction cookie. Consequently, the transaction and commission may never report in your account. Some studies indicate that fewer than 5% of all internet users have their settings so high that they block all cookies.

Since Commission Junction does not keep track of the user’s or consumer’s sales information, we cannot track down a missing sale. Only the advertiser will have record of a sale. Therefore, your only recourse is to contact the advertiser directly with every single bit of sales information (dates, times, amounts, order numbers, descriptions, quantities, sub-totals, tax, shipping, grand total, etc.).

To contact the advertiser, go to the Mail tab in your CJ Account Managerâ„¢. Click on the Compose button. Choose the advertiser from the pick-list, write your message and send.

The main thing to remember here is don’t spin your wheels worrying about one lost transaction. New publishers make the fatal mistake of becoming so obsessed with pursuing one missed sale, that they don’t focus on what really matters: finding ways to drive an ever-increasing, large volume of traffic through their web site or paid search links.

When a fisherman pulls his net out of the water, a few fish drop off the side and back to freedom in the ocean. The fisherman doesn’t fret about the one fish lost, but how he can cast a wider net to catch more fish.

Don’t lose sight of the big picture! The people who succeed in affiliate marketing are the ones who are able to attract and keep the attention of thousands—if not millions—of site visitors. And they don’t go to bed at night fretting about the one user out there that was blocking cookies.

Notice the last three paragraphs in bold.

I can't make any accusations about CJ under reporting because I havn't run a good test on them yet. I can tell you that I am making about $80 per day through them with little effort, so they don't screw around too much if at all.

I'm just saying there has been evidence to support that they might be doing this.

Thanks Kevin. i guess that cleared all my doubts. I am just a beginner and while it doesn't matter if this sale shows up or not, I am going to stick with CJ until I find a solid reason to leave them.
