I'm curious what kind of time you devote to link building in a day. Are you doing more articles, directories, squidoo pages, blog commenting, forum posts? Looking to get some ideas of a better structure for the link building process, right now I'm like do this, then that, back to this, maybe some of that.

Not a specific amount of time, tbh.

But lets say ~75% of time

Having a link building schedule really helps a lot. I used to go back and forth too but nothing beats a good to do list and having a basic plan of attack.
I segment a certain amount of time each day to build links.

I have a new way of building links now but I used to hit the forums for 30 minutes and then blog commenting for another 30 minutes, and then write at least one article a day.

Now with the program as seen in my signature, I can build all my backlinks in one day and then set them to come out slowly, so you are not making links to your site too fast. This would raise flags with the SE's.

I put links on relevant websites that have a PR2-PR5 and see a drastic change in the SERPs.

Not all of my time at the office. I spend 75% of my time in 8hrs.

I'm not so desperate to be a full time link builder. LOL

Finding new links takes me a lot of time. So some days it could be 100% of my time.

I'd say about 5 hours every day......but in the warmer months (April thru November) I'm down to 2 hours per day.

Link building needs consistent effort. We can not set exact time for this.As i think we can set our target(number of links) on daily weekly or monthly basis. And work hard to achieve the target either it take 1 hr,2 hr or ? hr.

Here's my breakdown on an 8 hour link-building day:

    0.5 hour planning/analysis
    1.5 hour article marketing
    1 hour bookmarking
    0.5 hour directories
    1 hour network links
    3.5 direct requests/networking

    Just do it! ;)

I spent avg. around 1-2 hour everyday on Link-building.

I can see the improvement aswel.

Somtimes if I get good links I spend more time on it. :)

I spend a lot of time. Sometimes I'm worried that the actual time I spend it's not worth it. So I'm glad I found DP so I can find out the most sufficient way to promote my sites and not sit back with a feeling that all my work was for nothing.

I had set my plans as to spend atleast an hour on forums or to post on atleast 10 threads everyday regularly. That will atleast build me 300 backlinks in a month.
Reading others practices I realized this is too less.

You don't know where to search.
Just look around at link development sub-forum and you'll see a lot of lists of do-follow forums, blogs, social bookmarks.
I am getting links via blog commenting and social bookmarks.
    Easiest way ever!
