Today, large hosting companies offer hundreds of GB for storage and thousands of GB of bandwidth for a few dollars a month. The question is, do you really use all that space/bandwidth ? In fact, some users hardly ever use more than 1 Gb of space and have very little traffic... Please answer the poll and post your comments.
They offer so much because they usually oversell. Bandwidth wise, iled say 100gb is good for me, space wise no more then 1-2gb's.
I hardly use much bandwidth. Heck, my only site is a blog and no one is every interested in me However, a few of my clients can use alot of bandwidth, around 500Mb a day on average.
3 sites of mine needs 1 gb space and 10 gb bandwidth, a lot depends on the pageviews, mine are educational sites, they generally have huge pageview and loads, hence bandwidth is required, but directory and other such kind of sites require space but bandwidth can be much less since those sites have more unique visitors and less of heavy pageviews all depends on the kind of site you operate
I don't need much space but need a fair amount of bandwith. I can get away with having a plan of 1gb file space and anything from 15gb upwards of bandwith.
Mostly Proxy sites use lots of bandwidth . So thats why they need bandwidth per month while a blog with daily 2000 page views will hardly need a bandwidth of about 15 Gb per month . Like I have Godaddy Delux plan where I am paying $6.99 per month for hosting and been given 100gb Space and 1000gb of traffic . Now I think hosting around 20-30 sites on this account will help me cover the bandwidth Which is around 50gb per site per month which may be enormous for blogs or normal education sites.
I offer my clients small packages starting 1GB , so that they pay only for what they really require. Still , most of my 1GB package clients do not use up even that 1GB
i myself dont use all the space n bwidth but i took the plan cause i can host multiple domains, and this offers are there only for higher plans
