I think some of you have good experience with arcade sites How much space is required to setup and what is the bandwidth required if there are 1000/visitors daily And also please provide the statistics for a proxy site if you have (which is the best proxy script to run a proxy website?)
At first you will need space more than bandwidth. It doesn't matter if you have 10 games or 5,000 games, it doesn't mean that you will need more bandwidth. The amount of bandwidth you will need depends on how many visitors visit your website, how many games they play, how big each page of your website is, etc. So really, an arcade that is the same size as yours and has the same traffic as yours could be using just the same bandwidth and space as you or you could either be using have the bandwidth and space or even 5 times the amount of bandwidth and space. When it comes to bandwidth and space there are things that you can do to lower it. This is by making a site that has files that are optimized so that they don't take up as much room, bandwidth can be saved also by smaller and optimized files, the use of caching, etc. It's quite hard to say how much space and bandwidth you will need really as all arcades will use a different amount of the same amount of visitors and games.
Chances are you'll need a dedicated server. Many of which come with unlimited bandwith, because if your getting 1000k uniques, I'd say the average flash game is 2mb-8mb then thats a lot per month so get a good unlimited ded server(55$ a month or so) and space wise it depends how many games you want 40gb should be well enough considering how many flash games there are and the average size.
Games site always takes more bandwidth and resources so you should take eye on it, Minimum bandwidth of 1000 unique site must have 100GB monthly as use may increase
You also pm'ed me this question, so I left a reply there. Check it out, and if you have any more questions, I'll keep an eye on this topic.
You will also have to think about CPU. For me, space and bandwidth is not an issue, but you will in the long run have to upgrade to a VPS or dedicated server if you are really serious about your arcade site. I'm currently on a dedicated server and it was all because of the arcade exceeding the CPU limit.
For proxy script. it depends on what kind of hosting you have. CGI proxy will need more dedicated hosting since it is heavy on your resources. PHP proxies are less on resources. However, do note that all proxies are all very heavy on the server if the specifications is not good enough. If you have a dedicated server or VPS, you should be able to host an arcade website without much problem. I would say 1GB diskspace is a good start.
How are we going to get the flash games for the site?and also please let me know where can i get best VPS or Dedicated hosted(for a lower cost and best service)
I use surpasshosting.com You can buy game packs at your game script provider. Such as gamesitescript.com
Why would a game site have high CPU usage? A game site just outputs HTML, it barely does any server side work at all...
I would suggest you to go with a dedicated server. It would be nice and easy for you if you would have high number of visitors and also I think for 500 players / day 500 GB would be okay.
I think dedicated is overkill when you're starting out. Yes, it would be nice if everything worked out from the start and you had tons of visitors and cash, but for the first few month reseller hosting will be enough. But yes, for 1000 visitors/day, dedicated is the best like everyone said . You can always upgrade later when you really need it, and use the cash you saved on hosting to advertise.
You won't need a dedicated server for a single starting-out arcade website. As others have said, it is more about the space than the bandwidth at the beginning because you will need to build up your visitors. I sell an arcade script that has 1100+ games on it, it uses up a little over 500MB of disk space. The demo site which recieves a considerable amount of traffic doesn't even use 2GB of bandwidth.
