how much should we wait for traffic ????

what is the time period we should wait so that we should start getting respectable amount of traffic .

I am new in this field ,so need some suggestions .
please help me out .

That's a broad question you just asked..but i will; say if your doing seo then it can be weeks or even months to see any traffic..but this does depends on your niche.

1. Advertise your site on the internet or offline.
2. Get ranked high for a decently searched keyword on Google and enjoy the high traffic.

Gaining traffic is not based on how long... it depends on how you promote you website.. you can easily gain traffic on social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Multiply and stumble.. also Social Bookmarking is an addition.. Digg, Reditt, Connotea, Blurpalicious etc.. just remember to socialize not just post and post..

 

Facebook, Youtube, PPC, ads articles. Most work well to get traffic right away. Now if its organic search engine traffic it takes backlinks and lot of time and effort but worth it in the long run.

I don't think I would 'wait for traffic'... traffic will come if you keep adding content to your site, commenting on blogs and all the other stuff mentioned above. I don't think you can build a site and then sit on your duff and wait for traffic.
