I need somebody to build links for my website. How much should I pay? Someone asks for USD4.00/link. I think he is crazy~.

How much do you pay? Do you calculate by link or by PR?

It depends on if the link is a dofollow link, what PR the link has and how many outbound links the page the link is coming from has.

Yes, basically i will look at the site PR and of course the lesser outbound link the better :)
As to how much should pay..I don't mind paying even $10/m if they have a quality visitors.

I agree. It depends on the PR of the page where the link is going to be placed, the number of outgoing links, the relatedness of the site to your website, no follow/follow, permanent/monthly etc. You need more info on the links before deciding how much to pay for them.

It varies so wildly. Why do you think $4 a link is crazy - I assume you think this is way too cheap? One link could be worth anywhere from next to nothing to 1000s of dollars.

You can use PR but it's not the best way to judge the quality of a link. It would really pay off for you if you can judge which are good quality links and which are bad ones, even (well, especially) if you are paying someone to obtain links for you.

if this relationship wasn't backwards, the service provider would be setting the cost

I charge my clients around £500/month for link building, sometimes more. I charge on links gained and time spent, which usually costs me a third of what I earn.

Link building that actually works is priceless because it's an investment that can really seperate a business from success or failure.

I think it's too expensive. Every link he asks for $4. It's really hard to judg a link builder's work. Now, I am thinking to pay him money depends on the PR I gain. But it takes a long time to have a new PR?

I think the best way to judge a link builder's work is how much he improves the PR. It may take a long time. But it's something we can see. By link quantity is really unworkable.

I don't care the process, but the result.

The Google toolbar PR usually updates about every 3 months or 4 times a year. I do not think it is a smart idea to pay by PR gained btw. There can be a lot more factors the go into this besides just the link builders work, good or bad.

it depends to where the link will be whether it will be in the high pr sites and how many backlinks. there are lots of link builders who actually can be hired cheap.

Quality of a link builder is determined by number of theme related one way links he can provide you for your site.

Depends on the quality of the links and it also depends on the link builder. Look for people who have high iTrader and good experience and pay whatever you can. Some people offer a fixed price for the PR they gain you, some pay per link. It depends on the person themselves.

A lot of depends on what kind of links you are building. You'll see people advertising blog comments all the time for next to nothing. But the quality is poor. But still even these services have their place.

Dude I got burned on some foreign companies. Personally, I would not put more than 100 dollars per month on this service, as there many cheap outsourcing services that are no penny-pinching in the least.

The better idea is to pay by the time spent on the link building.

I own a furniture retail site, based in Ireland and target only google.ie. I have been looking for a link building service for about 6 months or more now. Anyone in UK/Ireland is too expensive, and everyone i have discovered so far on freelance sites all seem to want to sell me 1000s of links. Even the freelances that are highly rated.
When i review the links for relivance/PR i am generally disappointed. I would really appericiate some assistance / advice on where i can find a genuine link builder, where i can assign a monthly contract of say $500 and then monitor the quality of the work in some way.
Currently i monitor about 120 key phrases and i will be able to watch the ranking changes.
Would really appericate a pointer in the right direction, or even a success story from someone who has accomplished this task!
    Many thanks. Eunan.

If you want to have links from relevant sites it's not expensive at all, but for directories, social, forums and etc it's too much
