I am trying to advertise a service, having lawyers and tutors on my site giving professional answers to ppl for a fee.

i am trying to look for sites to post my "Question Box" as advertisement which will be sth like 320 x 200, so targeted sites will be law and education related.

i have contacted few sites and they ask for different price for CPM, some offer $5 and some ask for more. i don't really have any geographic/ demographic requirement myself so just trying to cut off the agent fee.

it's my first time doing this so i really need help in getting a good idea about how much should i pay for my "Question Box" banner (dun wana get ripped off).

Should i get an agent and do that for me (keywords e.g. Law, lawyer, law question, homework help, etc), if so can someone suggest some big names?

    thanks a lot in advance
    Haley

You should try to find sites who will put your question box for free, if its valuable then you will find some, also try to do some competition for sites who uses it

My suggestion to you would be set up and affiliate program. People will post your ads and you get more traffic and only have to pay out if someone uses your service. This is the most ideal way of doing business because the website owner posts your ad for free right up until some one referred by them buys a service which gives you money in hand AND a possible return customer all for a one time fee...

juicemonkey has the right idea, you only pay if you get some business.

Yes actually we do have an affiliate program.

but the fact is that no one bother... and by experience only porn sites can successfully convince webmaster to put up their affiliate program ads.

from sites we have contacted... seems that offering banner ad is much more attractive for them..

If you have an affiliate program, you must work at finding the proper marketers. You must advertise that you have an affiliate program.

I would try a PPC campaign first to gauge the response. If it's good, you can go back to site owners (some of them may even be on an ad network) with hard numbers and get a better deal.

another option would be a two site deal. Start a link farming site based on your niche and build its ranking and offer links on it once it is established in exchange to webmasters posting your affiliate banners. If you do the link farm in a quality manner you could even sell it down the road once your other site gets established... Just a thought.
