I highly doubt you'd be buying this domain off of the owner for that price. This owner also owns laptops.com and parks all domains for ad traffic. Unless Stash.com is up for sale somewhere, I would say you're going to have a tough time buying that domain at $2,000. You'll probably have a chance at low to mid $xx,xxx. However, I extremely don't recommend it unless you really have something amazing in mind that you couldn't accomplish with another .com. You never know until you make the offer though. I'd say, when buying, the domain is only worth as much as you as the buyer are willing and able to pay for it. Yet, also know that there is always room for negotiating. So, maybe offer at least 10 times less than what you fell it to be worth to you and see what the owner says. If it was me and I was willing (my demand for the domain) to buy the domain had been set at $40k (what I would sell that domain name for if I was the seller), I as the buyer would offer $3k-5k to see what the seller figured had been a fair sales price for their domain. Depending on what the seller responded with I'd go from there. And if the price to buy the domain made sense to me then I'd buy it. Otherwise, I'd move on to other domain names that showed the same potential I was looking for. Remember when building a domain: Idea first, domain name first, idea second and then develop. If you were thinking about offering $2,000 then I'd agree with bk871 in offering $1k and see where it takes you.
