How much should I expect to pay a good copywriter?

Okay, so I'm thinking of hiring a copywriter for one of my affiliate products but I'm clueless as to what the pay range is like for having copywriting done. I'm thinking of something that's pretty short and sweet -- it's for getting people to register on a gaming site that awards cash prizes and eventually get them to make a cash deposit. I'm thinking that the landing page will only have about 500-600 words...nothing drawn out like for an ebook landing page.

For something like this, how much should I be looking to pay for a GOOD copywriter to do a small job like this from scratch? I'm definitely expecting $XXX, but I wouldn't know as to whether it's on the low range or the high range of that figure.

    Thanks!

At that length, I'd guess low- to mid-range, but it would depend on how much background research they need to do and how much information you're able to give them up front (keep in mind, they're going to need to spend time familiarizing themselves not only with what you're offering but your target audience and their motivations for signing up).

People tend to think in terms of the LENGTH of the article. But the time it takes to write is invested in the research to POSITION it to inspire visitors to answer a "call to action". Many clients have no idea who their target market is. And so the copywriter has to isolate one who will value it and know the "hot buttons" that will inspire the visitor to sign up. It's an emotional appeal that is carefully orchestrated. So many just think it's "500 words".

For original articles of that length, we usually charge $5-$10 per article, depending on the topic and how much research may be required.

It is the words that do magic and not the length of any content. Here, with an objective of increased sales you must think of investing with the right person(I mean the writer). An experienced person would definitely be of great help.

I would say for a single writer it will be between 5-10 if you are purchasing a large amount of articles from a bigger company it will be closer to about 15 for 500 words

I usually charge $69.99 for a sales page like I think you are describing - but big firms here on Digital Point will charge a very small amount for this - just make sure you are getting the quality you deserve. Check my thread from my signature or PM me if you just need to talk about your options.

I'd say somewhere in the range of $500-$700 for a really top notch sales letter.

Exponentially more than people charge for copywriting in the services section on this forum.

I'd say $5-10 as well from my experience buying and selling articles.

People seem to be confusing "copy" with "content." I would never buy a sales letter from someone charging $5 or $10 because it would mean they had no idea what they were doing. A sales letter must motivate people to buy and the writer must be able to craft a piece that pushes peoples' buttons and gets them to take action NOW. That is not the same as writing a 500-word article that is purely informative and has no call to action.

Sales letters really are different than articles. Try posting up an article and see how it converts.

To be successful, a sales letter has to appeal to your readers and then move them to where they are anxious to buy. Many article writers do not have a clue - nor could they do it. .

However, if you want a sales page that your readers can identify with and then will bring you possibly thousands of dollars, then I would put a lot more work into it and make it sing for you - then you can sing on your way to the bank. That's the difference.
