HOW MUCH should I charge for e-commerce data entry of inventory?

I have a client who wants me to add his product inventory to his website and to his register systems. I am unsure of how much to charge as because even after the addition of his 5000 plus products, he needs me to continually keep his systems updated. This could be a minimum 2 year project he says. How much should I charge for the initial upload of inventory into the system, then to keep his inventory on his website updated daily? Please help I've got to give him an answer by monday. I'm used to charging for design and program projects, but i never get into the inventory aspect of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope client are not from freelance sites, those one usually pay peanuts and already a sign of "lot of work" = "minimum 2 year project" to make final price lower. But probably it's not that case. Anyway no less than $10-$12 per hour. Usually it pay lower than design and programing. You should tell us your typical rates for that.

    Nice job you have.
I think you should give him a quote based on day such as $50/day for do all the job.
This is due to counting it by product is not practical and its hassle and time consuming.
More over,by using day pay,you and your boss will benefit from it.

I think its really depends on your's personal requirements. Charge more if you live in expensive country or charge less in you live in country with cheap allowance

thanks for all the replies. I think I'll just stick with a flat fee per week, as the work will vary, and a minimum 4 hour charge per day later on down the road. But I'm still open to suggestions.

tcnmart, who cares about your cheap hourly price ? Especially when you propose to charge that. If you are ok with $5 per hour - work for that.
