    Hello,

I have a little doubt as to how much I should charge a company for a custom job interface program that I made for them, that basically changes the entire way the company will operate. I did the program in PHP and also designed the interface (they needed some that could be accessible over the internet). Well my doubt is that I do not know how much I should charge them for the program. Tomorrow I'm going in and train / showcase the program to the business owners, as well as getting paid.
For those wondering, no payment was not discussed before hand. It was a job done for some people I know and they came to me knowing that I knew how to program. So I just jumped on the project.
Well I don't know if I should charge for my hours worked or just a set amount. I mean I did spend almost 50 hrs working on it since Monday.
One thing to keep in mind I do live in the US and do not work for $8 an hour for custom programming. I really don't know what the going rate is, as this is not my profession, it's just a skill I have and do custom jobs here and there.
Well any advice / guidance is appreciated.
    Thanks

I charge $60 AUD an hour - regardless of what the work is (PHP, design, whatever).

I pay my lawn mower $30 an hour.
I pay my mechanic $60 an hour.
I'm worth at least $60 an hour.

    Assuming that you've done a decent job... $60 p/h * 50 hours = $3000. Sounds about right to me.
