How much should I charge for advert on my site?

Hi there,

A lady emailed me yesterday and wanted to put an ad on my anxiety site. The advert would go on my links page that is available from each page that visitors visit. The site has a pr of 4 and around 200 unique visitors per day. She wants an advert for a year...What would be about right to charge?

You can charge 80$-100$/year...

 

I would say:

Check how much you get from adsense on that particular spot per month, take average of few months. Then your SUM x 12 months x 10 (should worth more 10 times. it is a common number that developers use to multiply.) So you get the price for year.

My site is PR1 (rubbish, will be better next update I'm sure!.. lol) and I charge £15 per month (30 days) for banner link or £8 for text link. And that's just for the forum!

Some will say that is too much, but I value my site greatly and they replace where my google ads would normally go. (I don't like too many adverts).

A lot of people/companies pay it and have been happy with the results.

 

200 unique visitors- not much, you can charge anything between $5-$10 per month.

 

It is very targeted traffic though, I see a lot of sales for the hits I get. I am only just over a year old and uniques go up about a 1000 each month as I build and promote the site, so I am sure this will grow. People who do link with me see decent traffic to their site from the link in my links page.

I suspect the amount to be around $100 a year, maybe a little more from the replies, thanks for the advice.

I am not sure. I think having the link on the links page gives no exposure since no one vists the link page. Maybe you should charge $30-50 for the year. If you ahve the link on content pages, then you should charge in excess of $100.

 

Anything above $80 seems too much to me, because as qwestcommunications said, nobody visits the link page.

 

I see your point, it does get hits as many people want more info and trust my opinion on links as I have very few. I don't have adverts on my pages as I do well enough from my own sales and one of the reasons is because it does not come across as a site to make money, i.e filled with adsnese and banners. I will lower my price.

 

You say the site is very good, etc. then just ask them $100 and don't worry.
They contacted you after all.
