Hey all. First, I'd like to thank anyone who has got some insight for me. I've read the forums here and it seems like there are a lot of very knowledgable people here, and I'm learning a lot. I've got a website that I previously haven't capitalized too much on. According to my stats software, I get something like 125,000 unique visitors per month. I can't really say how accurate that is though, given my average is 1,454 uniques a day. My site, www.orangemane.com, is an NFL football fan site. According to the stats, I serve over 700,000 impressions per month. What kind of capitalization should I be aiming for with my site? Is there a formula that I can lean on to get started? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
It depends on the keywords you are useing and what the top guys are paying per click/impression. That seems a very very busy site, you should be makeing a nice little profit there.
NOW I HAVE TO SAY IT - W-O-W!!! I'm most intrigued about the way you use to bring that much traffic to your site. I can't hardly guess it's free organic search right? Basically you need to filter out the spiders and other bots out of your logs when doing an analysis but if you REALLY get 1,454 uniques a day (uniques being unique IP Addresses), then anything should work well for you, especiall Google Adsense! JUST DON'T use any CPM like fastclick or mammamedia thingy with such decent amount of NICHE traffic. Build your content and capitalize with G! Adsense. Also note that Absolutely NO ONE can predict how much you can make out of a website by just providing us with stats. Some industry convert will little traffic while others demands more. You just need to test and give us the good news whenever you can! All the best
I have a rugby forum that I run for fun. I decided that I will place ads/affiliate ads on it and give the money to under 10's age teams (which at the end of the day is what keeps a sport alive). I ran a test on what adverts would be shown by Google adsense, and it didn't have a bloody clue what ads to show. My site gets about 4-600 posts a day and we normally get well above 10,000 page views per day. I am really pissed that Adsense can not work ot what ads to show, so I am now left with either selling adverts directly (my preferred option), or affiliate ads liek Tradedoubler or CJ.
Are you sure Google has fully indexed your pages? If not, google doens't know what feeds to send to you and if it does, it simply means advertisers are not much interested in rugby...ay least i'm not (no offence)
I would go for an affiliate program as I think like OldWelshGuy says there are limits to how well Adsense guesses the contents of the page. (Just look at the whacked-out ads you can get with Gmail!) With an affiliate program you have much more control, plus you can work with it more by really integrating it with your site. Of course, you will choose to promote a product you think is good, so you can help boost your commissions further by writting personal recommendations etc. It is obviously harder to boost Adsense click-thrus like this.
I am looking to go down the affiliate route though for everyday stuff, but have also contacted a tour operator about sponsoring it. I have always worked on related support advertising offline, and this is the way I would prefer to work, but adsense is the easier option.
