Right my site is the competition 1 in my sig. The site is hitting around 2000 uniques a month give or take. I currently have adsense and sell the occasional banner. When i had adsense in the place where the banner is aswell as the box underneath i was generating around $5 per month. Ive been selling banners now and get $10 a month + plus what i get from adsense also which is now reduced to about $2 per month. Im also generating a small amount of income from other sources. Lets say the site is generating $25 a month. Now the site is 3 months old has no PR and no history so im quite happy with $25 a month but im wondering what i need to do to get it to be earning $250 a month. Any suggestions?
Yeah it's always though to get the site rev up, but like with anything on the internet traffic is king. So try to find a way to get your site traffic up. With adsense I have found that the longer it's on the site that better the ads get, so my rev has actually increased over the past few months. But it's still only about $0.01 per visitor which is still pretty bad. I am looking to sell banners too, any tips?
Well, this sounds quite obvious - but increase your traffic. 2,000 per month is not much at all - if you are making $25 per month off of that little bit of traffic, you are going to do very well when you can grow your traffic. Think about it - your CPM (cost - or in this case, revenue - per thousand impressions) is $12.50. This means you earn $12.50 for every 1,000 visitors that come through your site. Now, with 25,000 visitors per month, you would be earning $312.50 per month. So increasing the visitors to your site, even to only 25,000, would greatly increase your income. Every 1,000 new visitors brings another $12.50 in revenue.
You should not be monetizing it yet since the traffic is not really that appealing and with no PR, it will be hard to do private ad sales. Try to focus more on traffic and link building.
Ive spent a lot of money on the skin, some additional coding work and a few other bits and bobs aswell as about $70 on advertising so i now need to get some of the money back, if im getting $25 a month i would rather do that and reinvest that money in advertising my site. But if im getting $12.50 per 1000 unique visitors then thats pretty good isnt it? Tony

$12.50 per 1000 isn't bad. I'd look at more affiliate programs and trying to sell more products personally. And as always, more traffic helps.
My site is also 3 months old but the number of the visitors are more than 2000...I'm not thinking about monetizing the site until I get around 1000 visitors a day... When the pagerank will show up usually? After how many months? Today I had a pagerank of 3 suddenly...and suddenly it dissapeared! So I'm wondering...
