How much SEO would you say it takes to beat low competition?

    For example there aren't any exact match domains in the top ten, nothing with a page rank more than 2, nothing with good on page seo, random amazon product pages, random youtube videos and random forum threads.

    What kind of work would that take to get in the top 3 of that? I don't think very much but I think I may have done "too much" and shot myself in the foot and got a penalty.

    Dont do any spam in website. Do some regular link building activities. You can beat competitor.
