Oh I got the same - 512 RAM and 80 Gb. However I dont use any heavy software. I was on 64 Mb RAM upto March 2006
I got away with the default 256MB for a while. I don't remember what I did, but one day I did something that exceeded the RAM abilities of the system and it crashed gloriously. (may have been a huge DB I wanted to view in an editor) This was after being able to work with an average of 18 windows/apps open for quite a while. I ran to office depot and picked up another Gig and have not had the issue again since. So I have 1.2 GB of RAM.
128 MB is entry level VRAM now. If you are all for game, then instead of getting 4 gigs of RAM get yourself a good graphics card. Graphic card should be - 1) DirectX 9 compatible 2) Support hardware Vertex and Pixel shader 3) At least 256 MB VRAM (DDR3 is better) 4) Support 16X AA So in other words, get your self a cool GeForce 6800/7800 Well I have 2 GB DDR2 533 MHz Ram on my System. Dude, No Software sucks on 512 MB RAM, its too much for current Generation Softwares. 512 is low, only if you plan to play Quake4 with high settings. Otherwise even 3DS Max 8 fly like a bird on 512.
I know... why you telling all truth with allone. I swear Actually.. my answer was that " 512 Ram, 80 Gb harddisk its lowest i think... I need webby configration Computer for playing high graphics game " Then i editit coz i think people will make rumor that i am not work and plays all the days..... hehe
I'm surprised you have 4 sluts!!! Granted, I haven't gone mobo shopping in a while but I think for the most part 3 slots is the norm...or has it been too long for me!
I'd toss http://www.tigerdirect.com/ into that equation as well, if not for memory, for everything else under the sun ----- I have 2GB which is barely enough for photoshop, but it kicks ass with notepad
