Promotion and hard work are two very generic terms. We need to discuss these in details if we are willing to help some one. now with promotion and hard work vare you saying 1. buying links 2. reciprocal links 3. or submitting our directory to other directories 4. any other seo or marketing tech !!!!!!!! Patience is another word discussed here. does it mean 1.installing a directory -1 days jobs. 2. Submitting it to other 1000 manual directories -50$ of something that lot of people are doing here. 3. Approving links that you get -20-30 hours work i guess to approve 300 lisitings.( lucky if you get so many in the first place) and now waiting for google to bless you with a PR and other webmasters to send you the money by paypal for featured listings. or there is more to this than what i have penned here. more light on this will be highly appreciated.
well, by taking a closer look at your two sig links (which are directories) you seem have it summed up for what you want out of it. Of course considering that those are indeed your directories. anywho, things can go a different route. it just depends on whether or not you want to push the bar(so to speak) and bring something new to the directory scene.
I am setting up a huge directory (not phpLD) - It is going to be custom programming and totally unique design and I am spending a lot of money on it. I have plans to promote it as the Alive Directory guy has done or may be better than that. I know that it will take some time for the directory to get some value and PR but I have a few things going in my mind at the moment Should I accept submissions for free in the start without any PR? (This is something I don't want to do but still want you guys to have your say) Should I keep promoting it at the back-end and will reveal it when it has got real value and interest of people I would love to hear from you all Regards HaXan
if ur unique design, custom design and "spending a lot of money", "plans to promote it as the Alive Directory guy has done or may be better than that" are true, then there are those who wouldnt mind paying for submission and you can go the pay way right from start or do a promo for a week or something for free and then convert to pay. whereas if you are going to be like the many number of other ppl here who keep saying - "i have plans to promote this in a large scale, i am going to invest a lot, blah blah blah blah nonsense stuff", then free would be way to go if u want submissions in.
It is not at all going to be the same directory as everyone is setting up here for $2 a link. I have plans to submit it to http://www.business.com http://dir.yahoo.com and a huge list of some other big names Any other ways to promote it? Any good sites where I can submit? Anything
Well if you really put your head into it you can make some good money but not enough money to live over it. You must set your goals and aim for those. Add your site to Link-O-Rama
