Hi, I'm wondering what's a good rate for investing money back into marketing from the monthly income of your sites. In my opinion the phrase "without money you make no money" still true. Lets say you earn for instance 1.000$/month, what would you spend for links, newsletters, articles and so on? The half? Or less/more? It would be great if you can break it down into the marketing strategies. Here is what I spent from my monthly income: 15% for high-PR-links, 10% for new content (articles)..so after all I invest 25% of the income into marketing. Thanks for sharing your experiences! Axel
Currently Im spending almost 75% of my online earning back ( i use my "real" job for other stuff)...so yeah I spend a lot on marketing atm..but would want to level it off at ~20%
It depends. I have different levels since I have a wide-scale business (real world and Internet). As to the Internet, a % of each site's profit goes back into marketing for that site. From there, a % of company profits are tagged for marketing. Most of these funds go to marketing new sites, company image and so forth. The percentage depends on how aggressive of a stance I want the company to have. 15-20% would be a moderate stance. If was employed and just starting out, I would reinvest 100% of the profits until I made enough to keep the business growing with me quitting my job. I would probably distribute the profits 65/15/10/5. - 65% marketing - 15% operations expansion (new computers, phones, etc) - 10% R & D - 5% hold over
At this moment in time we spend less than 20% of our income on advertising, mainly because we have had a good "word of mouth" response with repeat orders. In the future we expect to seriously increase our advertising spend to take the business onto a higher level. MB
I really believe in aggressive marketing. I think you must balance between a good product and good marketing efforts. I could sell BAD products with my marketing efforts but I can’t survive for longer time. But if you have a good product without good marketing you will not survive. It’s just a balance between Good product and good Marketing. On internet if you are having solid product the you must have advertise budget between 25% to 50%. Regards D,Maind.(WM7)
If a site's new and/or not earning much then putting most of the profits back into marketing is a good idea.
I only reinvest about 3%, because Google is doing my marketing job for free sending me +8,000 daily visitors (search queries, no adwords).
I try to dump everything I can into marketing, but there is always those other blasted expenses like ¨rent¨ and ¨food¨... who needs that stuff anyway..
I spend everything I can on my site. right now since my site takes in $0 money and I'm spending lots and lots of money I dont think I could put a percentage on it. In the future though, once I get things up and running I'd like to spend 30 or 40% on it. I think that would be a good number.
I'm ranked on Google Top10 for many many keywords, including several keywords at Top1, that way I'm getting that "organic traffic" which is free. Now, my marketing efforst are towards link building to mantain (or even increase) those rankings.
As being a new commer in this field i m spending almost 50% on marketing at Adwords. and major source of income is just coming from Adsense. Althought quite happy with the way things are going like having more than 600 unique visitors every day. but still i think need to promote it. U cant only depends on Adwords for your site marketing. So in my opinion its all about mix of Free Marketing and spending money as well. i m trying to decrease percentage of money i m spending on marketing but same time trying to increase users. Maybe i need some help from u experience guys. U can check my website : www.dramaybaaz.com
