How Much Money Would I Need To Start A Succesful Forum?

I think that's a good idea to start with some moderators but a contest would also be a good way to start a good forum spread.

 

Can anyone add some advice about forum moderation?

Is paid moderation necessary from the start?

Where I could get some paid moderation services?

Dave, I would say that you should start a thread in the Services forum in the BST. There will be plenty of applicants, but you should go for experience. Ask for past work. Good forums have good moderators.

But, providing that you're willing to moderate until a decent amount of members come in, there will be a few posters on your forum who will be willing to do it for free
