Hi.. I have joined adsense program but I find it hard to understand how it works. In two months my site has made 200.000 impressions but I "earned" just 1,70USD.... How does google calculate the CPM?
Welcome to DP - Don't be surprised if you get your a$$ chewed out for creating a thread like this - . Your best bet would be to check out the quick tour (https://google.com/adsense/) section at Google since you're a virgin to this whole adsense thing. Read up on everything at the Google Adsense site and if you still have questions, come back here.
Try harder, because you can earn way better, if you want, show us your URL and we'll tell you why you don't earn enough.
Who is your audience? How do you get to them? Promote to them. Get them over to your site. Put the ads out for them to click on.
But is it necessary that users click on banners? I know that google pays you also for the impressions
Yes, a few advertisers pay per thousand impressions but this is rare and they have to select your site specifically, so most of the earnings will be made by clicks on ads and placing only one 728x90 at the very top of your page will not work well. You need to place this below your header it will work way better, and you can put up to 3 blocks of ads and 1 block of links, try them, and blend the ad within your site's design by modifying colors like you did. Do it and then write another thread or on this one to ask for our opinion, but you'll see in your adsense stats if you're doing well or not.
Thanks for your precious advice but I have another question for you my friend...Why on the 90% of cases the only banner displayed by google is Google advertising? It means that no advertisers want to invest on my website?
When they show google, I think they pay per click as well, but if it is written "Public Service Advertisement" then it means you don't get paid, so I've long decided to use the ALTERNATE AD (search adsense for that) in order not to show public service ads. you can choose to display a color, an image, an html page or regain the space (collapsing units) when there is no ads to show. At the moment it would seem that in Italia Google wants to increase its market share, so any italian word you have on your website trigger an adsense ads which pays better than any other ads they could display, so that's why you get this. Look at your earnings in the following days (and implement changes, add more adsense blocks) and you should see clicks and money, then you'll be able to know how much you earn per click on average for italian keywords.
you have a GREAT impressions ... you should be able to earn more ... play around with layout and color of your ads ...
I looked at your site. It looks good, but i think your top banner is way too high. being up at the top the way it is, it seems it would be easily overlooked. If it were me, i'd lower it either just below your menu buttons, or at the very top of the content area.
