From calculations i did, using amazon api to fetch products, i came to a conclusion that amazon has 34,305,300 items, 26,312,190 of them are books.
amazon has a good reason to focus on book selling and related electronics for books like amazon kindle.

my next calculation would be to figure out how many stores with duplicate content are out there that use amazon api

yea, i did a research found that amazon and ebay are best sellers world wide, amazon has 70-100 million visits a month, so as ebay, amazon traffic rank shows increasing, while ebay decreasing a bit. i would say, ebay and amazon has big share in the market, maybe like more then 50%, i checked trafic ranks for stores like bestbuy, or walmart, none come close to the insane numbers ebay and amazon has

They sure are the online marketplace big boys on the internet, at the moment anyway. I sell on both, mainly Ebay though.

Wasn't Google gonna try and take over? Google Marketplace?
