How much is too much for AdWords CPC?

    I'm new to PPC advertising.

I got a free $30 credit for Google AdWords from my host.

I set up my ad and it ran for a while. When I looked at the stats, I saw my first click cost me $0.61.

When I set up the ad, I opted to have Google figure out the best price per click according to my $30 budget.

After seeing this $0.61 click, I lowered it to pay a max of $.30 per click.

I'd really like some input. Is $0.61 per click expensive or not? I don't sell anything on my site, I'm just trying to generate traffic.

    Thanks everyone!

Normally i would recommend to set at least half of the first page bid, means if a first page bid is 2$, you need to set up for 1$.Like that you will get a good clicks rates etc...

For traffic it seems relatively expensive unless it is extremely well targeted traffic. Either way before you spend more money read about 'adwords quality score' and how to improve it, this can lower your CPC...
